Yeah sneakers, jeans and tattered Black Flag shirt. I was shocked by how people were not tipping the bartenders.
Well maybe not shocked ...

So, from this, I'm concluding that Flex and Kory don't tip. Assholes. :naughty:

Yeah, I try to be a good tipper.

Anyways, we un-chickened out and went to the Brian Wilson/Chicago concert. My review I wrote for another forum:

Saw the tour at Red Rocks last night. As always, one of the world's exceptional venues and it was a beautiful night so almost any performance would have been pleasant anyways, and it was certainly a great night (even though my thoughts on Brian's opening act are going to sound less-than-great).

Brian started off at 7. I've seen him a few times, starting with the beach boys 50th anniversary tour (again at red rocks) - and his deterioration from that high water mark has been pretty steady. I missed the Friends album tour but from what I heard that was pretty dire and that christmas album tour didn't come to Denver so I believe those are the last two pre-covid tours of his that I didn't catch. He still seemed pretty engaged on the Pet Sounds tour when it came through Denver and I remember a couple other just general tours he did that he still seemed pretty into some years ago now.

Last night he started out... well, not great, but better than I was expecting based on reports. First few songs he was pretty obviously singing the verses for most of the songs and tinkering at the piano a bit. But that all dropped away to nothing a few songs in and he just sat there for most of the rest of the concert. Blondie, whose segments I've quite enjoyed on past tours, sounded pretty rough vocally although he played some GREAT guitar. Even the usually reliable Al didn't sound all that great, honestly. I actually wonder if the sound mix was a bit off for Brian & co.

Brian snapped back to it to sing some of Sloop John B and then handled most of God Only Knows. In probably the sweetest moment of the night, the audience sang along with Brian on that one and helped carry him to the end of the song, which was a beautiful moment. Darlin' with Darian on load vocals and with the Chicago brass section out to help was a definite highlight. Brian engaged again at the end and sang all of Love & Mercy, which I made sure to get a video of because I think it's probably the last time I'll ever see Brian do a lead vocal in person. Either because Brian's handlers will finally decide enough is enough and/or because I don't think I'd pay to see what would in future be an even more deteriorated Brian get trotted out onstage to have people play music around him. I love Brian and I love the music he's given the world, and I appreciated the opportunity to see him one final time, but it's the end of the road for me and I hope it is for him, too.

Chicago I don't have as many thoughts on - I've been familiarizing myself with their music in anticipation of last night's show, but I'm hardly an aficionado - other than to say they were consummate performers. No one I was with were huge Chicago fans but we all were quite impressed and really enjoyed their set. They played a little of everything, which was fun. Even the new song was decent. 25 or 6 to 4 to end the night fuckin' ripped. One oddity is that I heard Al and some of the rest of Brian's band have been coming out to do a song with Chicago and - unless I totally missed something - that didn't happen last night. Ah well, still a great show.

Overall, I'd say go to this tour to pay final respects to Brian as a live performer and then stay to see Chicago put on a great live set.

PiL was a really good, fun show. Lydon threw his all into it, the band were great and Brix Smith, supporting, exuded great post-punk pop star power. I've recovered now.
