Re: GEER Demos Vinyl Rip Remastered
I actually saw this in a shop last weekend and decided to buy it, and was pretty disappointed with it. If I remember correctly, ECW and TG were both from a TV show they went on in '78 or '79, and Guns on the Roof and Cheapskates were both from the 12/29/78 Lyceum show in poor enough quality to match the actual demo tracks. And they missed the demo for Last Gang in adding these non-demo songs. Even with poor quality I would have liked to have the actual GEER demos on vinyl, but this was sort of a misleading mess.Sparky wrote: ↑10 Nov 2022, 2:04pmGrabbed this over at Dime today.

Thank you. Track A4 on the Discogs list must be a very early demo version!Sparky wrote: ↑10 Nov 2022, 2:04pmGrabbed this over at Dime today.

Re: GEER Demos Vinyl Rip Remastered
Thanks for sharing, no harm in checking this stuff out again.
has anyone worked out which are genuine demos and which are live tracks?
English Civil War is definitely live, crowd noises and all.
Tommy Gun starts with the clapperboard 'Take 1 - the Clash' bit from the Nationwide TV clip, then sounds like a live version?
Guns On The Roof (no demo circulated?) sounds like a soundboard of a live version but I'm not sure from where.
Cheapskates has the same sort of sound, and a hint of crowd noise during Joe's spoken word intro, but again I'm not sure where it's from though.
The rest are the usual demos we've known of for ages. It's a shame the 'Joe on helium' speeded up All The Young Punks continues to be used without being corrected.
Even more of a shame that the demos still exist in far superior quality, and still haven't been shared...

Re: GEER Demos Vinyl Rip Remastered
The ECW is from the Alright Now 1979 Show I believe, while I think Tommy Gun is from the 1978 Something Else show. Guns on the Roof and Cheapskates are really poor quality copies from the 1978-12-28(or 29) Lyceum gig.JohnS wrote: ↑28 May 2023, 2:11pmThanks for sharing, no harm in checking this stuff out again.
