I feel real sad about Wilko. A lovely guy who influenced Weller and Strummer a great guitar player who will be sadly missed.

RIP John Wilkinson.

RIP Wilko! A bit of a shock- he was scheduled to be gigging in the New Year, I have a ticket to see him at the 100 Club.

He got 6,7 years more than he probably thought he would but still so sad. Wilko and Norman bout 10 years ago was one of best live shows I've ever been at, was hoping to catch him one more time at least but not to be. Such a talent in every respect.

RIP. Outsized influence relative to how much of a "household" name he is, I think. Most people probably know him from Game of Thrones, I'd think.

That guitar sound is a true, passionate, melodic original and has left so many brilliant influences in its powerful stead.

If people here don't know how much he influenced Joe and only know him from GoT then that's kind of sad. And it's a real loss to their music library.

Wilko was a force of nature.

Wilko owed his sound to Mick Green from Johnny Kidd and the Pirates. But he mastered it and put his unique stamp on his performance. Just absolute energy and passion. Easily one of the finest performers I ever seen.

Yes, that's clear as I listen to some Johnny Kidd now. A good reminder that everything has roots even if we can't see them. And agreed, he brought an essential something which went down to the rhythm guitar players we love.

I meant more like just normal people. I imagine on this board the people who at least recognize his contributions as foundational to the music they love approaches 100%.

Wilko for me was one of the finest guitarists of all time. His style is incredible and I'll forever be proud to have seen him play 4 or 5 times. Last time was May at bearded theory, he was one of the highlights for me. Met him backstage at Norwich about 5 years ago and he was an absolute gent. In 2020 I was doing a radio show for MMH radio and managed to sort a 2 hour Wilko interview special episode.
