I don't know much about the man, but I really like what he's left behind. For example...

Crosby was a character, for sure. I think he was so ornery and crotchety that it was hard (at least for me) to get too upset about him blasting away at music I liked. Plus, it was a lot of fun when he hit a deserving target (his comments about Mike Love are amazing: https://www.clashmusic.com/news/david-c ... mike-love/)

The Byrds were great across multiple musical directions and helped lay the foundations of several genres of music I adore, so hard to have too many bad feelings about the guy. His solo and CSN/Y stuff could be a little more hit or miss but there was still some decent stuff there, and I appreciate that he and CSNY were did an anti-iraq war tour back when that was still a controversial position to take. I saw them at red rocks on that tour and although Neil was the guy that seemed the most vital, Crosby was in fine form.

Ultimately not a fave, but I recognize his place in history and his hand in a lot of music I do love. And he had a surprisingly relevant twilight given how he took to social media. Interesting guy, RIP.
Well said. And I can only hope that I live long enough to be crotchety. RIP.

I couldn't get mad at this:
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I'm pretty sure it was Stills who did the hilarious "go back to school Clash" review but seemed they were kindred spirits when it came to dissing music they didn't like or understand anyway.

I think Neil Young is perhaps the only one out of that bunch who is not a dick

This is exactly how I feel. I was just too timid to say it.
From what I see there's still a little hope

To me he seems to be the only one who is open to new types of music and therefore is respected by quite a few current artists.

This was a decent read about David Crosby. And holy shit, I learned from this article that Neil Young is married to Daryl Hannah? (Dammit, cross one more off Kimmelweck's list, her loss. :disshame: ) I never woulda thunk it:

Crosby's high harmony on the chorus of this track is incredible.

Crosby did not some great stuff.

His first solo LP is pretty much awesome from start to finish.

Indeed. I played that one yesterday. Harmonies are great.
