I've been on a SVIIB kick of late. So, so damned good.
I haven't listened to them in a while, but this has inspired me to go back. My listening tends to roughly follow stuff that I'm influenced by while I'm working on a project but given that it looks probably impossible for me to find a woman singer, I haven't been torturing myself with it much.
Get busy self-torturing or get busy dying.

I don't need the former for that.

As long as you don't require attention/affection, yeah, I can be your new dad.

How funny, I was just thinking about getting a 5-string after hating them for years.

See, Jesus is using others as his instruments to warn you off disastrous choices.

I'm finding that in the course of writing this more trip-hoppy music, the need for some lower notes could be valuable. You particularly should like this since you don't like bassists to go above the 7th fret!

The bass player in my cover band that was in for years' husband played like a 13 string bass:

He could do some pretty cool stuff with it, but it was definitely for a very specific genre.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
