Sky Saw - Brian Eno
The Great Gig In The Sky - Pink Floyd
There's A Moon In The Sky (Called The Moon) - The B-52's
Whisky In The Jar - Thin Lizzy
The Great Beautician In The Sky - Magazine
Technically its Whiskey in the Jar
Other versions may have the 'e', but not Thin Lizzy.
Isn't that the difference between how it's spelled in the states vs. UK?

Don't know about the states, but in the UK it's Irish Whiskey and Scottish Whisky. Which makes the Lizzy record title using Whisky (in UK) at odds with the band's origins.

Label error possibly.

They couldn't stand that traditional music and only started playing it as a pisstake. I wonder if the lack of "e" in the Lizzy version was to differentiate from the folkie stuff that had come before, Americanising.

I'm guessing that that reflects a greater presence of Irish immigrants in the US, while Canada was historically Scottish.

Foolish Irish, invading Canada is like invading Russia—you realize it's a goddamned wasteland 11 months of the year and regret your choices.

Spectacularly ill-conceived alright. I kinda like the notion that we were plucky enough to actually invade someone, but seemed a tad ambitious. Newfoundland might have been the more prudent choice.

No mention of the Vermont connection in that article so here goes...
