Technically its Whiskey in the Jar
Other versions may have the 'e', but not Thin Lizzy.
Isn't that the difference between how it's spelled in the states vs. UK?
Don't know about the states, but in the UK it's Irish Whiskey and Scottish Whisky. Which makes the Lizzy record title using Whisky (in UK) at odds with the band's origins.
Label error possibly.

I'm guessing that that reflects a greater presence of Irish immigrants in the US, while Canada was historically Scottish.
Ah well, we did our best to bring the light. Which wasn't very much, it has to be said!

Foolish Irish, invading Canada is like invading Russia—you realize it's a goddamned wasteland 11 months of the year and regret your choices.
Spectacularly ill-conceived alright. I kinda like the notion that we were plucky enough to actually invade someone, but seemed a tad ambitious. Newfoundland might have been the more prudent choice.
Even modest effort would not have been worth the reward.

Well the plan I believe was not to hold Canada or parts of Canada but to trade it for Ireland

That's like in sports where two bad contracts are swapped with a vague hope that a change of venue will make the player better.

No mention of the Vermont connection in that article so here goes...

https://vtdigger.org/2017/05/07/vermont ... -incident/
"They planned to attack at key spots along a 1,000-mile front that extended as far west as Wisconsin."

1,000 men. One man per mile. The entire length of the eastern front in WW2 was less than 800 miles

One thing Ive learned about this particular topic over the years is that there's a lot of conflicting info. Supposedly there was to be any more men that never showed up. Id also read that it was to be a 3 pronged attack from VT, NY and Minnesota.

That is pretty much a sine qua non of any Irish rebellion/invasion.

I just have one: Sky Pilot by Eric Burdon and the Animals.
I like that song

We beach the beachheads other armies cannot beach
We speak the tongues other mouths cannot speak

I do not understand the "theme" of this week's lists so I cannot add anything. Crass? Me no comprendo.
From what I see there's still a little hope
