Most Sox games start at 5 for me, which is perfect. Either I'm home anyways and can flip the game on as we're starting dinner or we're getting home and only miss the first inning or two. Usually over by 8 (unless I get some Wellerian extra inning action) so still can get an hour or two to do other stuff before bed.

The mountain time zone is really the optimal timezone for watching east coast games.
Counterpoint: You exist outside God's Time Zone, and therefore two hours out of His love.
Counter-counterpoint: what does God need with a timezone?

If you lived here, you’d know that He doesn’t need this timezone, it exists precisely because of His love. All other timezones are an extension of His disappointment.

I had to look it up when I heard it because I was picturing they were actually using some Imaginary player on second base.

I read somebody somewhere call it the Manfred Man. Which is way clever.

The ghost runner makes me sad. I love those few, very few, games a year that go 15-16 innings. Games that you start watching at home then maybe you go out and have dinner and run an errand or two and you get back home the goddam game is still going. I love that. It's makes baseball absurdist which is always a good thing.

Didn't he have a heart attack a few years back? He had a legendary scowl on the mound, maybe more scary than Bob Gibson's.

He did. He was pretty lights out for a four year stretch there.

Yes, also for me it reminds me of not having enough people to play which was always kind of sad. It's just kind of pathetic.

I totally agree with this. The ghost runner is so lame, and it cheapens the entire game. Not good at all. What it does is justify teams using 6,7 pitchers a game. Ridiculous.
From what I see there's still a little hope
