Regarding Island Hopping, I recall in the recording of the concert at the I-Beam in San Francisco on November 17, 1989 (again thanks to Charlie Don't Surf for sharing his recording), Joe says he wrote that song while in Nassau at the search for Mick Jones.

Yep I guess Joe took inspiration for the song from that. Though lyrically it's really about lazing around and taking things easy.

had a listen from one of markys previous remasters. the lyrics are 100% joe rambling like charles bukowski:

Not only is the track plain awful it commits the sin of destroying any kind of flow the album had.

B-sides are far superior. Should've been an outtake at best. Horrible track.

Today I finally got to listen to it properly in its entirety. Compared to the CBS version, you hear a more pronounced vocal line on your latest remix, as well as for the drum and bass sound.
The result is a decidedly grittier sound than the original album.

Today I finally got to listen to it properly in its entirety. Compared to the CBS version there is a more pronounced vocal line, as well as for the drum and bass sound.
The result is a decidedly grittier sound than the original album.

The original mix isn't great. And it sounds murky and Joe's is mixed to low with the guitar over prominent in places. This new mix gives greater clarity to the vocal and the drum sound is much better.
