I don't like Celine's music AT ALL (and don't try to BOC me with that), but I do love that she is a noted kook.
Marrying your grandpa isn't kooky! :naughty:
I don't think that was her fault. Didn't he (and I hate this word now) groom her starting when she was 12?
I hadn't heard that, but the whole is skinky enough that it seems plausible.
He was her manager starting when she was 12, so it really seems inappropriate that it developed into a relationship. Per wikipedia, they didn't become romantic until she was 20 and they were married a long ass time until he died, so maybe not as bad as it could be I suppose.
Woody Allen's been with Soon-Yi Previn for a long time, too. Not sure longevity is the greatest of defences.
Also her voice rips. She has a time and a place if you want a big schmaltzy ballad. Bieber got some tunes too. Nickelback is the least defensible, though I can find merit in two of their songs.
She's akin to Clapton. I can't deny her talent, but what she sings is godawful godawful.

The only thing keeping that from being the worst thing ever in any universe is the absence of Gene Simmons.

I unfortunately could not find a video of her doing a Kiss song, which I swear exists.

I used to get really creeped out by random strangers telling me how pretty my 5yo daughter was.

The sexualization of kids in our culture does make it sketchy. It's probably a sincere compliment most of the time, but there's that other element that understandably triggers a parent's protective instincts. Even if I do think a kid is cute or adorable, I keep my mouth shut.

SecondHandSongs is a great resource for looking up cover versions. It doesn't indicate she's ever done a KISS song, but that she did butcher "You Shook Me All Night Long."

Yeah, there's some French Canadian pop that's alright, but rock music just dies there.

I've wondered if the French language just doesn't lend itself to rock, whether it lacks the right aggressiveness in inflection.
