I love that almost immediately MIke Johnson begged Republicans not to go racist/sexist—fantastic that that has to be said in the first place—but everyone knows that that scorpion was going to sting the frog. Yeah, I think fundamentally the key to success for trump was to run a campaign against Biden where Trump basically didn't have to do anything except some of his occasional white power rallies and rely on Biden's continuing public decay to suppress the nib-trump vote sufficiently. When Biden dropped, one of the consequences is trump has to actually campaign and reach beyond his base to win and when people are re-exposed to him it's usually a disaster for that effort.
