Kory has long advocated against fun.

Maybe it's the beer talking, but Bob you got a butt that won't quit. They got those chewy pretzels here [unintelligible] five dollars? Get outta here - Richard Nixon, inebriated, to Bob Haldeman, Oval Office recording, 20 June 1972
Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
I'd vote for Kory having the most "interesting" music taste here. Just what he likes vs. doesn't like is often surprising.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Agreed. While I feel safe in recommending stuff if it falls into particular genres, there are some fun curveballs in terms of what he hates.

He’s a reliable fan of trip hop and shoegaze and pizza toppings found exclusively in dumpsters.revbob wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 1:45pmI thought he just hates everythingDr. Medulla wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 12:09pmAgreed. If I’m not mistaken, Kory doesn’t like the Ramones.gkbill wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 1:50pmHello,revbob wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 1:45pmI thought he just hates everythingDr. Medulla wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 12:09pmAgreed. Sorry but every time I hear "trip hop" I think of the dickhead DJ that would follow me back in the day. He was often late and was as alluded to a dick. Basically a smelly hippie type that played "trip hop".Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 2:22pmThat’s the good stuff!revbob wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 2:07pmYet we love him anyway.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 1:52pmHe’s a reliable fan of trip hop and shoegaze and pizza toppings found exclusively in dumpsters.revbob wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 1:45pmI thought he just hates everythingDr. Medulla wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 12:09pm

Don't judge a genre by the dj.revbob wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 3:02pmSorry but every time I hear "trip hop" I think of the dickhead DJ that would follow me back in the day. He was often late and was as alluded to a dick. Basically a smelly hippie type that played "trip hop".

I've warmed to them. I probably listen to them a couple times a year now.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 1:53pmIf I’m not mistaken, Kory doesn’t like the Ramones.
As for the Pixies, Frank Black is the one I have the aversion to, if they had a different singer I would probably like them quite a bit more.

Voice primarily, I obviously listen to a lot of people with terrible personalities already. Although it doesn't help that he has deficits in both.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 8:46pmHis voice or personality?
