Re: Got Any Cool Vinyl?
I had an interesting experience yesterday. One of my partner's good friends is getting divorced and her soon to be ex-husband amassed a large collection of vinyl. Most of it is current, or reissues of older music. She's getting half of his collection as part of their settlement. My partner volunteered me to help sell everything, so yesterday I started going through the boxes (I think there are 11-12 boxes full of records). I'm going to catalog everything on discogs and then offer it for sale. This dude has a lot of nice stuff: most of it looks like it has been played once and it's all stored in archival quality sleeves.
It's appearing to be a bit more daunting that I anticipated, but having gone through a divorce myself - I'm glad to be able to lend a hand to someone else. Also, her ex isn't a very good guy. He's been unemployed for several years, but had no issue spending thousands and thousands of her money on records (often hiding his purchases).
One gem I just posted is a RSD Ramones box set: Pleasant Dreams through Brain Drain. Limited edition of 14,000. It's been opened, but the shrink wrap is still on the box and my best guess is that the records have been played once (if that).
Anyone, could/should be an interesting journey. I'll post the discogs store link once I get it set up in case anyone wants to look around.

Wow, it will be interesting to see what all you come up with for sale, never know, I might be bidding on some of them.WestwayKid wrote: ↑29 Nov 2024, 1:04pmI had an interesting experience yesterday. He apparently took a lot of the more rare/valuable stuff. She said he had a complete collection of Bowie LPs, most of them early editions.Sparky wrote: ↑29 Nov 2024, 6:25pmWow, it will be interesting to see what all you come up with for sale, never know, I might be bidding on some of them.WestwayKid wrote: ↑29 Nov 2024, 1:04pmI had an interesting experience yesterday.
